Appraisers from the popular PBS program Antiques Roadshow were in our area to assist with an event at the new Marco Island Historical Museum, which is across from the county library.

Although the museum has not yet had its official opening, visitors were able to walk around the museum grounds, tour some rooms and the administration building and see a mural and sculpture.

There was also a Marco Island Historical Faire, where people could have up to three items appraised for a fee. There was food for sale and entertainment. The money raised will go towards the operating budget for the museum.

It is interesting to note that the Marco Island Historical Museum will be a brand new, state of the art building that is designed to educate visitors about Marco Island’s past.
